Machine vision is undergoing a profound transformation as photonic technologies expand the ability of machines to perceive the world beyond traditional RGB imaging. The RETINA project brings together advanced sensing approaches such as hyperspectral imaging, SWIR detectors, photonic integrated FMCW lidar, and AI-driven multimodal fusion to create intelligent perception systems capable of operating in real-world environments across healthcare, automotive, and agriculture.
